My user name is dangerousdan. I,m 53 years old , I live in Marion,NC. I started riding at age 15 and rode until age 30. I stopped riding to run my business and
provide for my family. I started back riding 2 years ago. I started out riding dirt bikes and enduro bikes and then a Yamaha 650 Special and then a Yamaha V-Max and
then I took a 20 year break. When I started riding again I bought a FJR1300. I prefer the curves more than the straight lines so I am very fortunate to live where I do.

Wow, you can head up 80 to the BRP any day you want. You are in heaven. {I was coming off the BRP when I discovered 80, unfortunately, I was towing a camping trailer, and had NOT put new brake fluid in my FJR since I got it, and it probably hadn't been changed since new in 07, I lost my brakes about 2/3 of the way to Marion and had to purposefully crash on the shoulder {thank GOD there was a shoulder there} or continue down that road with NO brakes} all ended well, some folks helped me get back on the road, my brakes cooled down, and I continued on to the Lucky Strike Campground, where I stayed for a couple of days. {ever been there, it was fascinating to watch them try to find Gold} I am hot to go back and ride the 80 without the trailer {and with new, high temp brake fluid}.

Welcome. Sounds like the FJR guys are gonna take over here before long. We ride for about 2 hours from Charlotte to get to our favorite road NC 80. And it's in your back yard. <flip> <flip> <finger>
Look forward to riding with you.

When I bought my 06 FJR back in April 2006, I had to pre-order it in Nov. 2005. There were not many on the road back then. People would ask me what kind of bike it was, and talk about how wicked it sounded when you blipped the throttle. You know, that whoosh-wheeee turbine-like sound.

Theres a few more out there today though. <squid>

Hey Dan,

Sometime when you're riding 80, pop over to the Burnsville side and see if you can meet the acquaintance of a VStrom rider in the little burg called Hamrick, where the convenience store that serves the Carolina Hemlock Campground. He appears to be remodeling the old pizza place there. He's been there about 18 months but I can't ever seem to catch him out and don't want to go knocking on doors, they might think I am a Jehovah's witness <grin>
