Sunday January 6, 2019. Hawk and I rode from the Gate around Lake James, up 221 and 226A. Then on up to 19E and thru Newland and down 181 and Old 18. At Halfway Hardware we split up for ride home. I only got us lost once. Lunch was health food at BurgerKing.

Sorry Steve, we will have to start a GoFundMe to buy you an alarm clock and to hire Charles a baby sitter.

Greg and I rode to Fletcher as planned with some roads I hadn't been on before and had lunch at a new to me cajun restaurant, Jonny Mac's Lowcountry Grille & BBQ. The food was excellent, we'll eat there again.

I assume that was a "lower" elevation route suitable for winter--can you post it? Or name the roads taken...

Too cheap for a photo sharing site, but trust me it was a grand day to ride in the high country. Took a while to worm up, hitting the mid 50's by noon on Carvers Knob (ele 3700")
Rode 80 N of 19E, 261 to Fork mtn, Harrell Hill to 197 Huntdale, then came back on Fairview Cemetery road to Jacks Creek and ultimately, Double Island. All roads were clean. I tried to get on the BRP from 80 to mt Mitchell ( they said it was open On the web site), but it was gated off. My guess it was wind damage from a monster wind blow Friday night which upended my 140# gas grill and knocked the sign off the LS bookstore. My neighbors home weather station recorded a gust of 84 mph Friday late night.

Fletcher route file is attached. The excellent Jonny Mac's Lowcountry Grille & BBQ is in a strip mall so it's slightly tricky to find. Google location: https://goo.gl/maps/3chWCPvsmWB2

Thanks for posting--that place is right down the road from this one-> https://www.12bones.com/ which is also pretty good. I rode that return route by chance a few months back down Terrys Gap and Clear Creek, interesting deviation from the same-old.

Charles and I did ride up Elk Creek, paved and unpaved. I had a very close call on slab. A truck took me all the way to yellow line. Linked brakes saved my ass.
Trying to post pics. Bob, anyway to increase file size on site to make it easier to post pictures??

Steve, current pic size limit is .96MB or 960K which is pretty big compared to most other forums--we'd run out of space quickly if it were larger, and may anyway. I resize all my pics to around 250K-500K *.jpg's and they have very good detail in that rez. Iphones tend to do way overkill on pic size, like several mb's.

Whats the file format---jpg/png/etc...? Are you logged in when u try to do this? If not, it would send you to login again... Just added this pic as a test, worked ok.....I don't doubt you're having an issue, just can't quite figure it out. Edit: Steve are you typing a lot of text also and taking a while to get it all typed before submitting the post? There is a time-out that could affect a lengthy post if it takes too long to type it....or if you start a post and then leave it open for a while doing something else, the clock is still ticking until u hit submit... Edit #2: Flush your cookies and DNS cache and restart browser.
