MotoAmerica RacesAnybody riding to the MotoAmerica races at VIR or Road Atlanta this spring?
Re: MotoAmerica RacesWell I try to go to VIR every year and used to go to both for all three days.
Road Atlanta is April 13 - 15th. VIR is May 4 - 6 The MSTA has an event in Staunton, VA April 12 - 15th that I hope to attend. VIR I will probably ride up on Sunday (unless someone comes up with a great inexpensive place to stay up there). Of course all these plans depend on the weather! Re: MotoAmerica RacesDarn, I'd like to see MotoAmerica at VIR again this year but I'll be at a dual sport rally near Cherokee that weekend.
Re: MotoAmerica RacesI went to VIR in 2015. Stayed in a cheap room in Martinsville after the race and rode west on Hwy 58, a few back roads, then the parkway the next day. I had to cancel ride to Road Atlanta last year. I caught the plague on a trip to San Diego/Tijuana just before the race. I already had tickets and room. But, I did get to ride to Road Atlanta in 2016 with Charles, his brother and Dad. We had a great ride through the mountains before heading south to Atlanta.
I am definitely riding to one of the races. http://www.stromtrek.com
Re: MotoAmerica RacesNow that I live about an hour from VIR I plan to attend the May races. Back to the old stomping grounds. Back in the early 70s grass used to grow up in the track. VIR and Lake Sugar Tree were the places to go and watch the AMA races. I haven't been to Road Atlanta in years - except for VIP Protection driving classes. Last race I saw at Road Atlanta Jody Nicholas won on the factory Suzuki ! Those were the days.

Re: MotoAmerica Races
Dang, did you move to Greensboro?? Edit--never mind I just saw it in your profile--Kernersville. You sold the mtn. house? Bob
Re: MotoAmerica RacesYep I'm in Kernersville now. The mountain house is going on the market March 3. I'm now working for Forsyth County. We had a hostile takeover at work and the senior supervisory staff were not asked to stay on. Oh well - back to my old riding days around the Piedmont.

Re: MotoAmerica RacesI'm probably gonna try to go this year. I don't have anything else planned at this point and riding would be the only thing that would supersede at this point. I see they are offering a "camping" option but didn't see how much that would cost. I have an interesting route to get there and back so would probably just ride up there for the action and then go back home afterwards. 1.5 hours via direct route from Winston Salem and about 2 hours by the more fun route.
Re: MotoAmerica Races
I tried retirement but healthcare cost made us go back to work. Ann's going to officially retire in July and be a stay at home dog Mom. We are closer to the Grandkids too. I've got a good deal here so I'll probably work a few more years. 2010 BMW R1200RT
