BMW tank-bag sun reflection from map pocket remedy

Unread postby Patriot » Tue Oct 06, 2015 1:31 am

I came up with a remedy for the blinding reflection off the clear map pocket on the R1200 BMW ADV tank bag that occurs for some riders. I purchased a "doo" rag or black hair stocking fits perfectly over the TB map pocket and stops the blinding reflection when the sun reflects off the top of the bag into the riders face. No need to cut or remove the clear plastic map pocket from your expensive TB. It costs $2.00
FWIW...hope this helps anyone having this issue.

Easy fix. Fortunately my tank bag has a removable map pocket, which I 'removed' . Do mfgrs think we really USE those things? Like I'm gonna be leaning over it with a magnifying glass while riding along. <dope>

Interesting. I too have a glare issue but, unlike Bob, can not remove the "map pocket". I will try this "solve". Thanks for the info.

You should try it without a map in it--glare city!

You must have the seniors edition maps with the double size fonts. <grin>

All the best with your surgery Bob, they have really perfected it. My mother worked for an eye Doc for many years, amazing success stories with this procedure.

Yamadog,

You can find these black stocking hair nets (being a retired LEO I call em robbery masks  ) at beauty supply stores. It took a little research…but as mentioned they are like two dollars and change.
