Looking to try on MC boots... Sidi

Unread postby Brick » Fri Feb 20, 2015 1:31 pm

So I contacted Motonation the distributor of Sidi boots and they have a locator and there are two places in the Charlotte area that supposedly stock Sidi boots. CompAcc... are they still open? and http://www.jafrum.com/. What the hell is http://www.jafrum.com/ never heard of them. Do any of you Charlotteanites know about them?

Brick,
CompAcc is history, period. At least in Rock Hill. Jafrum is a smallish wanna-be online motorcycle marketer. They have pretty poor reviews if you google it, but that being said I went over to their place a few weeks ago and bought an HJC helmet. They have a small "showroom" (couple empty offices) where they have a small amount of stuff (mostly helmets) on display, and the showroom hours are 10-12 and 2-4. I called first to see if they had the helmets in stock that I was interested in and they had the HJC's, which they pulled out of their whse. for me to try . It did enable me to try different sizes and I bought one at the going price from everyone else. The best part was I walked out with my purchase in hand, rather than getting it online and wondering if/when those turkeys would ever ship it to me, lol. <muaha>

Call them first to see if they have what you want IN their whse!!

Brick, one other thing to try is Revzilla. I know with clothes--for instance-- you can order 2 different jackets and try them on, pick one, and send the other back with the included pre-paid shipping label. When they credit your card, they will deduct $7.30 for the return shipment, so thats all it cost you to shop different items with them. I would think boots could be done the same way. Revzilla is the model for all to emulate, in my opinion. Returns are painless--you don't even need to call them, just box it back up, stick the included label on it, and ship it.

I've used these guys before. Hard Racing in Mooresville right off the Hwy 150 exit. Extremely helpful. I made an order and then another one the next day - called them and the girl in shipping open my box and added the new order. http://www.hardracing.com/Catalog.htm

Yep Comp Acc is gone. Ended my addiction

I checked their website and ended up on this page. I think it was the "Industry Standard 20% restocking fee" that turned me off. <yikes>
I get this feeling that they don't actually stock *anything, its all drop-shipped.

http://www.hardracing.com/Misc/Disclaimer.htm

That being said, they sometimes have decent deals on shocks. Marc--what did you get from them--it sounded like it was shipping from them..?

And I also saw this--->>>
http://www.hardracing.com/Misc/SIDI.htm
Strange, Revzilla and Compacc each has a page full of them....

Alot of Hard Racing catalog is dropped shipped. I bought a side case and LED taillight for my R1. They had both in stock at the store. The shop is very small - they do a lot of in house shock work. They sponsor a couple WERA bikes out of the shop.

Oh I love Revzilla and buy lots from them. However, there big deal is free exchange if you buy the wrong size. Which is great. My issue is that I'm not sure which boot I want. Got it down to 6 or 7 boots. Revzilla has all of them. Wanted to "touch" them! I guess it's not gonna happen.

Going to Philly anytime soon? They carry them in the "boutique".

Yep had a 2004 R1 for a number of years. It was a project bike for the local Yamaha shop in Rock Hill. Lots of farkles. Took me back to my old club racing days at VIR. Crashed it on the Saluda Grade, broke 2 ribs, put it back together and sold it. Used the money to buy the FJR. Shot from Shady Valley days. <squid>

Nope never did WERA. My brother co-owned a shop in Greensboro in the late '70s. We would take bikes up to VIR on Club Weekends. We had a Yam TD-250 that was loads of fun. Couple more pics of my R1from Ann photo work at Deals Gap - sure do miss that bike. It was fast !

Lee the last pair of boots I bought lasted me 20 years. I certainly don't want to be stuck with boots I don't like.

What do you look for in boots--what makes them "the right boot" ? 20 years is pretty damn good. I assume they were re-soleable?

Had them resoled twice by Randy Logan of Logan Shoe Magic in Knoxville, TN. He is also an MSTA member.
Well right now my "likes" are in a bit of change. I would like an Adventure boot but usually they have such a thick top that I can't get blue jeans over the top. Also being able to walk some would be nice. Some are so stiff that real walking is impossible. The sidi OnRoad boots were also very water proof, has no zipper because zippers leak and you can't make a zipper tighter or looser. As I type I think I'm taking myself into another Sidi OnRoad boot. However the new OnRoad has changed. Would love to try on the new OnRoad.
