Which Sena model?

Unread postby flip » Sun Nov 29, 2020 1:24 am

I've been thinking of getting a Sena communications unit. I think most of you that I've met use the Sena 30K unit. I see that Sena has 50S and 50R units now which I suppose is an upgrade from the 30K. Which model would you guys suggest?

My only experience with communicators are UClear units and I only used them for music and phone calls on trips.

The 30K was the first model that uses the "Mesh" protocol and it works well. In my opinion the 50x models have the same guts but offer some other bells and whistles, such as an extra hour of battery life, "improved speakers", etc. I take everything Sena says with a grain of salt. Be sure to get the model with the rotary jog dial, not the 3-button model. Gloves could make the buttons difficult. We all pretty much have the 30K's.

If the "HD" speakers that come with the 50 matter to anyone they're available as an aftermarket upgrade to the 30. At least on Amazon, it's cheaper to buy the 30 plus HD speakers than the 50.

True--so be sure to download the Sena device mgr. software so you can check the firmware version to make sure its the latest, or it won't be compatible. If not, it will update it for you. Thats if you buy a 30K.
