Brake light wiring on FJR

Unread postby charlieg » Mon Aug 12, 2013 1:24 pm

Does anyone know where there is a connector in the brake light wiring where the vizi-tech "Supabrake" interface would connect? (See the attached pics)

There is supposed to be a connector where I can simply plug and play the suprabrake, however, I can't seem to find it w/o taking the whole bike apart.

Perhaps it is near the battery? Any ideas?

Brake wiring typically runs in the area under the seat, with a disconnect plug usually towards the rear of that area.

Although you may have to remove rear rack to get to it....

Hasn't Brick installed one of these on his FJR??

Read this--perhaps it plugs into the socket on the rear brake pedal switch.

Google "FJR 1300 brake light plug"

Has to be 'one' central plug past where the foot and hand brake switches feed the light. Youd think...

So, after taking off side panels and tracing more wire, I resorted to my sense of feel... little fingers into cracks and crevices... I felt something that could be promising.

Put all of the side covers back on and basically had to disassemble the whole back end Tupperware. There she was!

All put back together with just a lot of sweat and a few choice words but no lost or leftover parts!

It works and one can adjust the algorithm for about 10 different profiles. Some work better with LEDs than bulbs, some are more "aggressive" in the flashing, others better for stop & go traffic (I guess blinking less frequently or maybe not blinking If brakes reapplied in X seconds).

I didn't take any pics while doing the job <banghd> and I might get someone to take a short video of them at work. I just can't do it myself - arms are not long enough! <grin>
