Friday 4-28 Burnsville, Lonesome Mountain, etc

Unread postby Bob » Fri Apr 28, 2017 7:00 pm

Scott, Broz, Jay, and I took 126 to Marion and NC80 to Burnsville for lunch at the Rad Dawgz. The dawgz were yummie, will have to stop there again sometime. Then we rode west to Big Laurel where they were laying down some fresh asphalt, that will be a nice ride when they get it finished. Then south on Lonesome Mountain to US25 and then some back roads west of 25 and finally back down to the river and into Asheville on 251. Then over the hill to Bat Cave and Lake Lure and home via the famous Lake Lure Expwy. 350 miles for me, start to finish, 10 hours. Fun ride, great company!

This first one's animated--clik it to see it move! Amaaaazing.
Over the top at Lonesome Mtn.

Taken at the top on Lonesome Mtn. and along the French Broad River. I understand it was named after some french broad.

Yeah, and these dogs aren't just slopped together in the back room; they are precision "assembled" by dog technicians you can watch while they make your very own personal dog. I ordered chili-mustard-onions-slaw and after the chili-mustard-onions there was really no more room on the dog for slaw so I asked for a side order of slaw. Broz inhaled 2 of those puppies before I could finish my one. <grin>

The fact we are discussing this is a testament to the importance of good dawgz in the sport touring culture. <muaha>

Indeed...one of the rewards of motorcycle touring is discovering a purveyor of good dogs.

It was one of the best rides I've been on with the two wheelers. The route was really great -- so was the dawg!
