Rode west of Saluda past Caesars Head etc.

Unread postby Bob » Fri Mar 03, 2017 9:44 am

I met Brick and Lee in Lake Lure and we then took Green River Cove Rd to Saluda where we had lunch at...what was it called? Then Brick led us down Mtn Page Rd and up Cabin Creek (nice smooth twisties) to Pinnacle Mtn Rd. After a couple of miles on Pinnacle riding on pea gravel, we turned around and took Bear Mtn Rd down the north side of the ridge and then rode west to 276 and stopped off at the YMCA camp to view Symmes Chapel, AKA "pretty place". Quite remarkable. Then it was down 276 and up River Falls Rd and back to Saluda. Very nice loop, lots of fun, thanks for leading Brick and Lee! <tour>

Brick was indeed curious about the brass geodesic survey marker embed into the rock of Symmes Chapel overlook at the end of YMCA Rd.

Another beautiful, clear day though this time with temps a little more brisk than the unusually warm weather of late. My bike readout showed 55 degrees by 11:00 and it stay mostly that through arriving home at 5:50. I can't recall a past winter where there's been so much good riding.

OMG... there are some fantastic roads we rode yesterday. Tireatr you just need to join us. The SC sections suck and once it warms up the tourists will be clogging up 276 and I'll stay away from it. So that means we need to ride it again soon! Also there is a great dual sport road... ok a couple miles of gravel that parallels Pinnacle Mtn road. I'll ride it and the lower end of Pinnacle Mtn road when I'm on my Tenere. [THUMBS UP SIGN]
Next Thursday's forecast is for a ride... let's do it again!

Announce it again next week and you can count me in already. Whichever day I don't ride the FJ I'll ride the DRZ!
