I've been riding to Hawg N Dawg pretty much since they opened around 2010. I got the sense they are experiencing some growing pains while trying to use additional dining space next door. You could just tell they were having a "bad day" and not doing a very good job of smiling through it. But they remain a cut above the very low bar that's been set in that area. There is a new fast food hotdog spot opened along I-26 that's yet to be tested, along with some decent Mexican just one exit north. However, given a choice and a matching route solution, I'll take the Hawg at HIghlander's BBQ in Roan Mtn. ANY DAY over the Dawg in Erwin. It's Lee's obsession with the messiest hot dog humanly possible that allows HnD to edge the competition.
Mostly, the day was so nice and amazing for February in the mountains, that nobody had anything else to complain about!
