Friday to Hawg N Dawg

Good on Bob for taking a chance to ride the highlands. I'm still amazed at how clean the roads are...would have never guessed! Hawg N Dawg tried to let us down but in the end they do serve a tasty hot dog.

I took a pic! Downtown Erwin, TN. Yeah, maybe we'll give Mr Hawg/Dawg another chance, he does make good hot dogs.

What happened at Hawg N Dawg? They are usually very attentive and seem receptive to motorcyclists. I don't particularly care for the roads around Erwin or the traffic. The VFR is ready to run for the next ride. May have some small tweaking to do but I am mostly satisfied. I'm heading to MaxSpeed in Kernersville tomorrow for PRE track inspection since I might have to run a track day on it.

Took them about 30 mins to come up with a few hot dogs. And made flippant comments about why. But when we checked out, was very apologetic. So we'll probably try him again.

I've been riding to Hawg N Dawg pretty much since they opened around 2010. I got the sense they are experiencing some growing pains while trying to use additional dining space next door. You could just tell they were having a "bad day" and not doing a very good job of smiling through it. But they remain a cut above the very low bar that's been set in that area. There is a new fast food hotdog spot opened along I-26 that's yet to be tested, along with some decent Mexican just one exit north. However, given a choice and a matching route solution, I'll take the Hawg at HIghlander's BBQ in Roan Mtn. ANY DAY over the Dawg in Erwin. It's Lee's obsession with the messiest hot dog humanly possible that allows HnD to edge the competition. <grin>

Mostly, the day was so nice and amazing for February in the mountains, that nobody had anything else to complain about!

BBQ in Roan Mtn. also sounds enticing. <grin>
