1/19/17... Thursday

Unread postby Brick » Thu Jan 19, 2017 7:25 pm

What a beautiful day to ride! Temperatures were perfect! High 50's to mid 60's and slightly overcast. As usual I got there last. Scott and Lee were already at the Gate station ready to ride.
I lead this trio of Yamaha's down to Columbus, NC were we ate at the Mexican restaurant. It was... well American/Mexican food. Then we rode up Skyuka mountain and down. Skyuka mtn was "crap" covered but not as bad as I had thought it could be. Over Hughes Gap to Green River Cove road. As would be expected the hair pin curves were crap covered. Around Ager lake through lake Lure up 9 across Bat Cave through Marion home. I thought I had the Rever app running on my phone but when I thoughtt resume. Here z I hit resume after lunch well it did not resume. [POUTING FACE]

Yeah, shame on me--it really was a nice day, esp for late January. Believe me, I am ready to get over this shit once and for all. <banghd>

Glad somebody got out. <scoot>

We had a good time! After my last 2 recent rides I had to wash mass quantities of salt and grit off the bike. This ride was relatively clean with much improved road conditions.

Nice day for a ride.....too much work on the plate. Interesting route from Marion to Columbus. Likely I've been on some of those roads to LL from Marion, but I can't determine that from the pic. Always love to learn new roads.

I remember a group ride I led a few years ago in late May. It was 46 degrees and misting on the mtn and near 70 and sunny off the mtn. We dropped off at 221 at Linville Falls and had a great day riding from Marion to LL, Old Fort rd through Garren Creek, BPR to Weaverville and so on....It's good to have options! Look forward to riding with more of you in 2017. The house in Little Switzerland should be completed in late May and a lot of 3 day weekends will mean a lot more riding.

Was a great ride. Only felt the back end slip sideways a little once.
