Ride Friday 1/13/17...

Unread postby Brick » Fri Jan 13, 2017 5:25 pm

Well I met up with Lee, Bob and Clyde at the Gate Station. We were there bsing and playing with SENA until almost 11:00 when we rode. 1/2 block away Philter was riding to meet us. [THUMBS UP SIGN] The 5 of us rode up 181 and had lunch at the Hispanic restaurant almost at 221. There more bsing ensued. Then we rode the BRP over to Blowing rock. Bob got off at 221 and Shulsmills rd the rest of us went on to 321. We assumed Bob, who wasn't felling too well split off to head toward the house.
We 4 rode down 321 and took 268 east. Buffalo Cove drew us up to Lee's favorite stop. [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES] From there Philter headed south for home. Then 3 off us rode across more back roads and ended on 16 north of Wilksboro.
It was 268 home for me. I think I probably rode around 175 miles or so.
Roads were crappy and wet but it was 70 degrees and we were riding. On and off. Gain rain drops bothered us a number of times. No big deal just another part of the day.
Glad we got out for a bit. Now... where did I put that water hose?

Buffalo Mercantile Cafe on Buffalo Cove Rd has great online reviews so I tried it a few months ago. Turned out the place is one of the worst restaurants EVER!

We got to ride in 70 degrees in the middle of January! My bike looked like it had been batter fried in salt and grit when I got home but a spray of soap and water took care of it. Nice to meet Clyde and thanks Brick for leading us around!

Wished I'd had time to head west to meet you, but work beckoned... couldn't completely waste a lovely day, though and dragged all three out for short hops. Sorry to see that you're still under the weather, Bob!

Sounds like BMW needs a recall. I skipped out on riding after looking at the radar which was highly disparate from the forecast. Wearing shorts at the dog park was a reasonable consolation. Its always fun to watch Archer do his Barry Sanders impersonation and make the other dogs look like they are wearing ice skates.
