Weds. ride with 007

Unread postby Bob » Thu Dec 08, 2016 9:44 am

Steve and I had a nice run up 181, 19E, 7 Mile Ridge, NC80, 126, and Old 18. The Oil slick was still visible on old 18 but maybe not slippery, dunno, didn't test it. <dope>

Lunch at Christas, Steve had the ribs. How were they? I might get those next time instead of the prime rib sammich.

Thanks for posting Bob- Last nice day for the foreseeable future. Looks like the high country had sun and temps close to or better than Charlotte. Temps tonight and Friday night are forecasted close to 15, Brrrr

Cold, then rain expected up there next week. It appears winter will set in for the most part. Nice days ahead will be spotty.

Yea... I sat indoors under a blanket waiting for the furnace to be installed. Then I got to write a big check!
Glad y'all had a great ride!

Fantastic ride, Bob, thanks for the lead. There were a few damp spots, but overall great roads with good visibility for the most part. 80 was in better shape this time in comparison to the last time I was up there. That isn't saying much, because Hurricane Matthew had just gone through and the whole road was wet, cold, and dark. This was an improvement from the Parkway, which was wet, cold, dark, windy, and so foggy I couldn't see my hand in front of my face and made dodging small trees in the road very difficult.

Bob led down Old 18 to point out the oil slick, but he was too fast to keep in sight via a trademark pass of a construction vehicle. Incidentally, the workers were wearing vests that said "Inmate" on the back. Thankfully, he waited for me so I didn't test out the oil slick, either.

The rib special was good, but I probably would have enjoyed the prime rib sandwich more, honestly. It really is top notch.
