Sunday 9-4 Ride to Sparta-->North

Dang--there were 7 of us! Broz, PRB-Ben, Bob Ealy (Ben's dad), me, and 3 more from the Charlotte ADVrider.com meet-up group: Augie, Streaker, and Maffud. We headed to Wilkesboro by way of Brushy Mtn Rd, then took 18 to lunch at Motley's BBQ west of Sparta. After lunch we rode my "Sparta Wandering" route that follows some VA back country farm roads, with a stop in Freeze, VA (spelled Fries)down by the New River, and ending up in Sparta. From there it was back down 18 where we all split up and headed for home. 11 hours start-to-finish for me, not sure about the miles but way over 300 fer sure (apprx 360). Lots of fun and great meeting Bob (Ealy), Maffud, Augie, and Streaker.

Broz has just about nailed that complicated ADVrider friendly wave, hasn't he?

Would have loved to join you but it was the Fiances B day. I'm off to Norcal Thursday for 11 days. I hope to do some good fall rides when I return. FWIW the SW VA loop consisting of VA 16, VA 61, VA 614, US 52, VA 860, and VA 749 is almost all new or recently new surface. I did this ride Saturday with some sporty fellers and it did not disappoint.
