Ride to the snake 7/29

Unread postby PirateRiderBen » Fri Jul 29, 2016 9:26 pm

Well I left with my lady on the back and met up with Steve in West Jefferson, and we road 88/big laurel/167 to shady valley. Made some passes on the snake and met up with my buddy Jared. For lunch we just grubbed at the shady store. Headed back down and Jared and I caught 194 to banner elk and Steve took 421 on home. Jared went back to Boone and Meghan and I came across Hickory Nut Gap and down 181 back to Morganton. I showed 220 miles.

The R1200R handled 2 up flawlessly. The stock seat is garbage but that will soon be remedied with a Sargent. Hope to see more of you next time!

Glad yall made it up there today. Sounds like a nice route. I'll try to make the next one. <olfart>

What year is that R ? Never mind I found a pic and see its a camhead. You did good--those camheads are torque-monsters and will do 2-up with ease.

It's a 2012 with about 27300 miles on it now.
Other than the fuel strip it's pretty flawless. I can't wait to have the suspension re worked to a more sporting set up.

<olfart> Now just being the old Fart here for a minute... remember that you can make it sporting LIKE but it will never be a sport bike. You can't ride it like you did that 500! Rant over...

An MSTA member has a new R1200RS in that Granite Gray Metallic Mat at the Big Lynn Lodge. Damn, that is one beautiful bike! ... even if it is a BMW! $22,975 they way I would want it... Or with the BMW financing $309/month. <grin>

$22,975?? No way. Base price is only $14,995. What kind of options you gonna get? Push-button that wipes your ass? <muaha>

Is that not standard on all BMWs?
