Gents lets just say you all missed a great ride, perfect weather, and amazing company....if I do say so. Unfortunately there was a bit more traffic going thru the Great Smokey Mountains on 441 and lets just say we pissed off a few hillbillies (not a story we should put on the internet might have to po-po out looking for us). Little River Road was not as bad but we ended up getting bogged down towards the end and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery. I would advise staying out of that area for a while because it looks to be high tourist season now.

We took Brick's little detour down Happy Valley Trail off the Footpath parkway? We came upon a cop and an ambulance and an SUV (this is out in the middle of no where) and there is this toddler maybe a year or so old wondering down this road. We guess the SUV driver placed the call, and it would have probably taken the cop at least 20-30 minutes to get there. Mind you it looks like there were a few crack dens close to the road. We pulled up on the female LEO as she was scooping the kid up in her arms and she was very shocked and startled looking and she was looking over her shoulder like she was in fear of being shot, she was very pale in the face. That didn't slow Bob down, he thought not a good place to be hanging out and we zoomed right past her as she was parked in the middle of the two lanes.

We had a great ride thru the Dragon and on to Fontana Dam. This place is a little gem. The route home on day 2 was great, I think the highlight would be Walnut Creek. I don't think you should drive thru without stopping for a swim at the beach (The Pines Recreation Area Swim Beach Courtesy Duke Energy). This time I was prepared and enjoyed a quick dip. Here are some pics of areas I think YOU MUST VISIT! Hope more of you can join us next time. Pictures coming!

Here's some of the usual suspects hanging out at the DG "overlook".

This guy lost the use of his left arm in a head-on with a Tahoe--its there just for the looks.

Here's a close-up of his right bar grip--notice both the brake and clutch levers located there.

Nice report and no doubt you guys had a great time. Beats my Tuesday in Winston Salem for automobile recall work.

Is there any type of vehicle Bob hasn't passed? School buses, prison buses, ambulances, police come to mind, probably all in the same ride. The CB500 was on the Dragon Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning. It is officially stupid fast. You will have to find pics, yourself, as I have spent more time riding than surfing the net.

I was simply playing follow-the-leader in this ride, trying to maintain the group integrity required by anyone riding in the sweep position. <grin>

Guilty as charged......there was a piece on CBS Sunday Morning about road rage. Makes you think twice. We passed some slow cars on 441. One guy I guess saw us coming or was a family w two or more vehicles (maybe communicating w each other). He decided to try and send me thru the back of his SUV window. Fortunately we were both paying attention. But it scared the shit out of me. Thought I was going to perform my first stoppie. Eventually we were able to get around only to be stopped in A line of traffic due to road work. At that time a few people jumped out of there vehicles and confronted Bob. (We had one car between us). Then some teenage girl came up and wrote down my license plate number. The guy that yelled at Bob apparently smelled like he had had a few beers and looked like a man on the run. Moral of the story is don't get stuck in a line traffic after being a hooligan.

The guy who tried to make you eat his rear end by slamming on his brakes was the same moron who shouted to me (while pointing to his beat-up SUV), "Thars younguns in the back seat!!!" Those 'pore younguns' have my deepest sympathy. <banghd> I hope they survive childhood under that knuckle dragger.

That fellow on the white bike is one of the local racer boys. I want to feel bad for him because of that accident, but those guys take track prepped bikes up there and treat a public road like a race course. There's riding aggressively, and then there's foolishness. It was more than once when I was up there I came around a turn and one of these guys was straddling the line between the lanes.
Riding at 125% like that leaves no room for the hazards of the public road.

Skilled riders, not skilled thinkers.
