Impromptu run up Old 18 & 181 Sunday 5-15

Unread postby Bob » Sun May 15, 2016 9:41 pm

Broz and I made an impromptu run up Old 18 and 181 today. Left home at 1:00 PM, back by 7:00. Weather was just fantastic, severe clear, but just a little chilly up around Jonas Ridge. This ride also served as a test of our new Sena 20s's. We were able to seamlessly switch from BT intercom to 2-way radio comm, just by pressing the PTT button. Even took a couple of pics at Brown Mtn. overlook to prove it really happened! <grin>

I got photo-bombed by a tourist and this is my half-ass Photoshop attempt to fix it. <pics>

Bob, We likely crossed paths sometime Sunday. I should have called you. I saw where you were planning to leave much earlier than me, so I hesitated. Next time, I'll drop a line.

Me and a buddy just up the street left Onion county around 10:00am and slabbed it to Gaston county. We rode back roads to Little Switz including old 18 and the north route over Lake James. After lunch at LS we checked out some lots I've been eyeing to build on. Rode the parkway N to 181 and rolled off the mtn. All in all a great day with perfect temps.

Yeah by all means give me a holler next time. Plans are always open to change.

I did the same with my Sena 20s last year when I talked to you guys on GMRS and also Brick on Sena bluetooth because he didn't bring his GMRS.

It will be interesting to try that Sena phone app to see how/if it makes pairing up multiple 20S's any easier.

That photo reminds me of the body shields in the movie Dune. "It's the slow blade that pierces the shield!"
Everything that spells FUN, will cost a little bit more than you can afford.
