Tuesday 3/29 ride

Today's ride started out kind of brisk... 46 here in Morganton. Steve said it was about the same when he started.
We met at 11:30 here Image and ate lunch at the Log House. The food was ok... nothing to write home about. It stayed cool all day. We had a fun romp up 16 and rode the Back of the Dragon which I guess is the part of 16 from Marion, VA to Tazwell, VA. The sign says "eleven... try Thirty-two" I guess it's 32 miles between those two cities. There were two sections of road work down to one lane traffic. www.backofthedragon.com.

Here is my ride today as recorded by the app Rever.
Great ride Steve... Thank You!

So, you found a "Back of the Dragon" sign. I've ridden that road many times and never seen it.

Yes with out leaves the views were great! I've ridden that road many many times on trips to and from Ohio to see family and to attend MSTA's Mail Pouch Fly-By. I too have never seen one of the signs before.

The sign is by the gas station in the rolling hills on the Tazewell side of the BOTD.

Also, check out Steves cool pizza delivery scooter. That big ole box on the back keeps them nice and cozy while he makes deliveries in 15 min or less! Hahaha

Jealous I missed this one.

There are a couple BOTD signs, one in Marion just before the in-town twisties start and another at the gas station / hot dog stand as Ben mentioned where we took the picture. I guess they only do hot dogs in the summer. Some sections of road had some garbage but otherwise was a beautiful day. I made a few detours down gravel roads on the way out, just because. I have never seen so many "one lane road ahead" signs in my life. I was caught up in 2 of them on the way to meet for lunch (sorry for making you wait on me at lunch, Brick), we encountered a couple more during the ride, and I found 2 more after we split. At least the DOT is maintaining the road.

Brick, we should have switched bikes for a few corners. You would be blown away at the absurd capability of the Duckling. As mentioned, it does 95% of what I want it to do, and the remaining 5% I shouldn't be doing anyway. Its a lightweight Moto3 replica, a motard, and a refined comfort touring bike all in one package. Truly a bike where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Brick, post up those GPX files for your rides in VA and WVA. I am curious to try out a few roads in that direction, especially WVA.
