Ride 12-19-2012

Unread postby Bob » Wed Dec 19, 2012 7:48 pm

Brick, Scott & I met at Ham's Restaurant in Hickory at noon for lunch. The Reuben and hot potato chips were excellent. After lunch we rode some back roads that Brick had ridden the week before with another group, from Hickory north, west & north of Wilkesboro. We started up this really remote nice twisty road, not really knowing where it would take us. After climbing to 3500 ft. and riding a mile or so of gravel we popped out on the Parkway!
After heading north on the pkwy for a few miles (chilly), we took NC16 back down past Wilkesboro where Scott and Brick took 268 back home, and I continued 16 most of the way home. I forgot my camera but Scott took a few pics; hopefully he will post them here. Nice warm (65F) day for a ride!!

I thought the smiley was funny, but Morgan insisted I should insult you back.

Good stuff... <flipa> <flipa> <flipa>

Well I enjoyed the hell out of our ride on the 19th... we didn't follow the earlier route too well but I was just "told" how to convert the routes I've made on the App on my iPhone... "CheckMyTour" and convert them from GPS to GDB. That way I should be able to load them into my old Garmin 60CSX and we can follow more exactly.

That last road off 421 & NC 16... Turn left on Congo Rd... Fish Dam Rd... Boone Trail... Parsonville Rd... Big Ivy Rd... to Lump Road and then it ends on the Blue Ridge parkway near mile marker 265. It's only 16 1/2 miles but GREAT fun. I can't wait to ride it at speed in the warmth. It should be a BLAST!

Hmmm... I tried to add a Garmin .GDB file... I don't see it yet???
