Ride to Pineola for Mexican

Unread postby Bob » Mon Nov 16, 2015 6:46 pm

Yamadog, Ed, and I left town at 10:00 today and made a run up Old 18 and 181 for lunch at Los Acroiris Mexican in Pineola. After lunch we returned the same way we came, and were back home by 3:30, avoiding the Charlotte traffic bedlam. The weather was perfect, mostly sunny and even WARMER (65F) at the TOP of 181 than at the bottom!

I even took one piccie to prove it really happened. Sorry you couldn't make it.... <violin>

First I thought... Wait Ed's there... then I remembered that MC shops are closed on Monday! Glad you guys got out! It was a nice day! <tour>

I noticed on Saturday's ride that we've got to be heading home now by 3:30 cause it gets dark...depressing...

Yes it is. But we're having some gorgeous weather which helps a little. I'll take the shorter/sunny/cooler days over last August. <whew>

All I saw was asphalt patches on the sides for about 6 miles starting on the south end, no resurfacing. But a couple of bridges were grooved.

'Twas great to get out... the weather couldn't have been much nicer, after a chilly start!

181 was a bit of a bummer- there were crews working on doing [gawd knows] along the shoulder headed downhill, and random equipment was out in the uphill lanes- but we got a little taste of fun in anyway.

I have some new heated gear I am looking to test out. Still waiting on the heated insoles. Maybe leave a little earlier to catch more sunlight?

My threshold for heading out is 40F and sunny, with expectation of reaching mid 50's later on. That occurs around 0900 fairly often. But a cloudy day makes those temps feel 10 degrees colder.
