11/11 Tuggles Gap

Unread postby NC-Canuck » Wed Nov 11, 2015 11:14 pm

007 was tour guide today and took us on a great ride from Hanging Rock to Tuggles Gap with some great roads in between. Been up there many times but was shown a few new roads

Lunch at the Tuggles Gap restaurant.

Couldn't have asked for a more incredible day. Minimal traffic, great weather, fantastic company. Thank you for lunch, sir! <joecool>

We saw a doe nearly invisible on the side of the road at sunset, who turned around and ran back into the woods on the same side, little dogs, and a German Shepherd who likes to race anything that runs by its yard (I have seen it relatively frequently and think it is either well trained or confined by an electric fence).

That route is super secret, so do not share it outside of this group. I would like to keep it away from hooligans (present company excluded) and soccer moms.

Secret route?? I need that! <grin> Man that was a gorgeous day wasn't it? Hate to miss it, I want to get up there and ride these "secret routes" soon. <scoot>

Hows the food at that spot? <pop> Saw it on a Sparta rally ride but never stopped.

I prefer the Poor Farmer's Market for lunch. Outdoor seating and more selection of sandwiches (actually, I just like the philly cheesesteak and milkshakes which are unavailable at Tuggles gap). They also have fresh produce and wine in case anyone wants to go grocery shopping while we are there.

Ah I see you rode The Gaps Wednesday. Always good fun up that way. Did you make it over to Indian Valley road? Hope you left room for Tuggles Gap pie. I can't stop there and not get a piece.

We didn't make it any farther north than 221 on this trip, but I have been on Indian Valley road on the way to Claytor lake - on a bike, too! Ah the good ol days.
