7-24 Ride

Unread postby 007 » Sat Jul 25, 2015 8:23 pm

I was expecting Bob to post the details by now since I was paying too much attention to staying on the road that I could care less where we were going. Hits included Halfway Hardware, Morganton, Spruce Pine, Bakersville, Burnsville, and Marion. All fantastic roads that I hope to get to know better. Bob was taking it easy due to an arm injury, which I hope is healing well. He took a picture to prove the ride happened, so I am hoping he posts. Otherwise, I can't prove that riding through the construction yielded a rusty nail in my Q3 rear tire, which thankfully plugged the hole long enough for me to get home (albeit with some extra wiggle due to unbalancing). The tire is near the wear bars on the outside, but some tread in the middle if anyone wants to patch it and go play. I'm done with it once it is unmounted, although that might not be until I run through the tire on my spare wheel. Great ride, gentlemen.

Nice to meet you Steve. I enjoyed the company and beautiful day with other enthusiasts. Many more roads to explore especially in Madison county.

Here is my one and only pic--I am getting slack, huh? Many thanks to Ken (aka tireatr) for leading us all day on a bunch of roads that were new to me, a few I already knew but were great, and for stringing all the roads together into a very fun day! You guys are also fast! <fonda>

Lunch stop in Spruce Pine--a Caribbean spot.

My arm today--the bruise is spreading (well I needed another pic to post)

Looks and sounds like you guys had a good ride! Sorry I couldn't make this one. Bob, what the heck is the story on your arm? That looks like it may have been a little painful for a bike ride?!

It does sound like y'all had a great ride. [THUMBS UP SIGN] Damn Bob you must have really pissed off Jan for her to do that to you!

I popped my distal bicep tendon trying to pull the bike off the center stand. Fortunately it did not completely tear in two. But sure hurts like hell. Be careful putting bike on/off centerstands--if you feel like you are straining too hard, then you probably are! <dope>

^^^ which is why I need to spend more time on the CB500X to stay out of trouble. Luckily 4th and 5th gear on the VFR below VTEC are relatively sedate. Glad to meet some skilled riders, hope to see more of you!
