Sunday 2/24 Ride Report

Unread postby Broz » Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:09 pm

Me and my buddy Dave, (on his land yacht, Victory) Scott and one of his buddies, Julius, (on a H.D. Soft Tail) met at Halfway Supply. Scott took the lead, and did a good job seeing he was working off memory and a little GPS help from time to time.

We rode Old NC Hwy 18, 126 around Lake James to Marion. We ate lunch at the Countryside BBQ, then attempted Bob's route to Lake Lure. We got to Lake Lure coming in on the South end on 64 or 74 maybe its the same road I don't know. Then we road Hwy 9 to Old Fort Rd and somehow ended up back in Marion near I-40. From there we slabbed it home. Round trip it was 311 miles for Dave & I. Nice day to ride. Hope more can come next time. You can see the route I posted on Checkmytour.com

Bob says it didn't happen if we don't have pictures.....so here they are.
Dave and I met at the Harley Dealer in Matthews. Here's a picture of the fastest bike on the lot:

Funny how we have some beautiful scenery through out the day and only manage to stop for pictures at dumps like this:

Awwright!! Make it happen Brozman. Pics and all--a role model. <claps>

Whats that bike Julius is riding? I really like the paint job--thought he rode a CVO bagger...?

That Victory is nice looking too--Polaris does nice paint.

Yeh, its hard to remember to even TAKE pics, ain't it? Much less pick the most scenic spots.... <pics>

Here is a spot if you guys are up for cooling off in the summer. It is 3 miles from the intersection of 74 Alternate and HWY 9 (on Hwy 9) you have to hike down a long trail about 30-40 minutes. Scott thought all the cars parked on the side of the road were fishing. They might be this time of year. It is really worth the hike, but i might be a little paranoid parking my bike on the side of the road in gravel. It would be a long walk home if it's missing when you come back in your bathing suit.

Broz, I thought that was YOU in that pic above--from an earlier time. He is a chip off the (old?) block for sure. <olfart>

Love to see the rest of the waterfalls behind there....

No kiddin. It is hard work watching the GPS & the people behind you....unless you have the route in memory and ride it without thinking. When I follow I am much more relaxed. <whew>

Looks like you had a good crew.

I too don't remember Julius having that bike. I've seen the other two with the custom paint jobs. But not this one.

That's his first bike which was a custom out of Greenville with custom paint. His newer bike is the stock CVO.
