Weds. 7-8 Mt Mitchell and beyond

Unread postby Bob » Sat Jul 11, 2015 2:05 pm

Scott, yamadog, 007, and I met at the Halfway and rode Golden Valley/226/NC80 and the parkway to Mt Mitchell. After lunch at the restaurant there, we took the parkway back north to 80 and then up 80 and Double Island RD to Red Hill. Then we made a loop on Green Mtn and 194, Hughes Gap, Roan Mtn. back to Spruce Pine. Then took Altapass and Parkway to 181 and back down the mtn. Yamadog and I then took our time following a line of storms ahead of us moving across the Charlotte area, and never felt a drop, and it had cooled everything off for us! Back home at 7:45. It was a 370 mile day for me, but the hillbilly part was nice and cool, 63F on MT Mitchell even! <joecool>
