I left my house @ 8:00 headed towards Halfway Supply. It was 37 degrees, but soon reading 34 by the time I got on I-85. I met my buddy Dennis (that rides an RT) at the Kangaroo on 321 we attempted Bob's shortcut (we made it with some help and distractions from Siri) to Hwy 27 toward Halfway Supply. We ended up riding up Old NC Hwy 18. We rode it to Morganton and then turned around back to Halfway Supply and then back to Morganton. I call this a training ride, lots of practice on the twisties. I know this is verboten but I jumped on I-40 in Morganton to 321 so I could get home and do some chores. So I did 215 miles and was home by 1:00. Hopefully I can get some "local guides" to join us next time. I posted the ride to Checkmytour, but your not missing anything.

Excellent! Did Dennis also enjoy the ride? Had he been on Old 18 before? Try to take some pics next time. <pics>

Looks like you only made one wrong turn on my "short-cut" but got back on course after a loop. You might discover an even *better shortcut....

Old hwy 18 was new to Dennis. He really enjoyed the route. Leading for a change make us appreciate all the work you put into planning your routes. Your shortcut is the way to go!
