Unread postby Brick » Wed Feb 06, 2013 7:47 pm

Yippie! What a super day! Bob put together a super route. I ended up riding 264 miles today. Check My Tour shows ~213 miles. I didn't start it until after lunch at Timberwoods.

Agreed, just a terrific day for riding... and it's barely even February! <icool>

Ended up at 309 miles, door-to-door.

Couldn't agree more, I logged 244 miles. How lucky are we that we can go riding on great roads all year long!!!!

I had a blast! Here's a few pics. I calculated we rode approx. 180 miles of pure twisties--thats a lot of turning. <whew>

And it was a COFSTA FIRST: 6 riders, all interconnected thru the miracle of Marconi. (not pasta) I think it made the ride go off smoother than ever---safer too.

Here's a couple pics.

The 180 miles of twisties looked like this:

Didn't even know the bags were back there. Overall the bike feels very light. <smirk>

GREAT!! So now we got TWO Lance trucks in the fleet. <muaha>

They really are pretty light bags. 2MM thick sidewalls made from T5052 aluminum. I'm thinking mine weighed about 10 lbs each and hold a total of 105 litres between them. Or 675 packs of Nip-Chee's.

I think looks can be deceiving. They look kind of like a bread truck, big boxy slow thing.....but I can testify. Not the case. I would like to see some guys on crotch rockets try and beat Bob don the mountain yesterday. One minute he's there, next minute gone. What a great day! Brick what was that GPS app you mentioned at lunch?

You nailed it--From Wiki:

A pannier /ˈpæniər/ is a basket, bag, box, or similar container, carried in pairs either slung over the back of a beast of burden, or attached to the sides of a bicycle or motorcycle. The term derives from the Old French, from Classical Latin, word for bread basket.[1]

Broz,
It's called "CoPilot Live" it takes a LOT of memory as it loads all the maps and such ON your iPhone. I should have gotten the iPhone with more memory!! Damn!

Hmmm I think you should put a "Spam" sticker on them. Heck it looks like the right shape for a Spam can???

Or like my one riding friend did... on the side he put, "If you can read this turn me over". Obviously he put it on upside down! <grin> <yes!>
