Fri. 11-7 to Lake Lure

Unread postby Bob » Fri Nov 07, 2014 9:21 pm

I met up with 007 at the Halfway and we rode Old 18 up to meet pirate rider ben at the Gate. From there we took numerous disjointed back roads to Lake Lure (Vein Mountain Rd. and Painters Gap were 2 of them I remember). Had some chopped dead pig at the Smokehouse while being entertained by the proprietor Debbie. She talked about Brick a LOT. <muaha> Wasn't sure if it was good or bad, lol. After lunch we took 74 over the mtn. towards Asheville and then Sand Creek or something like that back up to NC9 and then Old Fort/Bat Cave Rd. down to Old Fort. From there 007 and Ben were going to head up and down NC80, and I started my trek back to the gridlock, trying to avoid some of the mess but still hit it. Maybe they will chime in about what else they did.

Proof that it DID happen:

She talked about brick A LOT. holy cow didn't think we would make it out. We ride from old fort up 80 and attempted to take the parkway over to 181, however the parkway is very closed past 226, so we jetted down 226 and I took back roads around lake James and Steve went on his merry way back to Winston. All in all a great ride. Some bozo in a truck tried to run Bob off the road on a passing attempt. EV-7777 was the tag number Bob!

Thanks Ben for that tag #--you have a good memory.
Glad you guys made it home safely. I guess the parkway was closed because that stretch goes up fairly high and it still had snow/ice on it after the storm. The park service makes no effort to clear the parkway at all in the winter.

I met Debbie when she and her seemingly absent husband owned Cajun BBQ before it burned down (another story). Then she and her son opened this place... now the son seems to be out of the picture??? For some reason whenever any motorcyclist eats there she thinks I sent them??

She went on this rant for about 10 min about how you try to force the forum on her every-time y'all talk. And she was afraid she offended you by telling you she didn't want to join. We assured her your skin was thicker than that haha
