Broz, Yarbi, and I left town Sat. morning for WV by way of NC & VA Hwy 16 all the way to Tazewell, VA. The "Back of the Dragon" between Marion, VA and Tazewell was in fine form. From there we tunneled our way thru the mile long East River Mtn. Tunnel to Princeton, WV where we then rode WV 20 to Rainelle and then US60 to Lewisburg. Dinner was tasty at Ruby Tuesday's next door to the motel. The next day (Sun.) Yarbi headed back home for "commitments" while Broz and I made a 300 mi. loop encompassing the New River Gorge, WV 16 north of Gauley Bridge, and several other wild and wonderful twisty roads. I think Broz now believes what I've been saying all along about the WV roads--they are "different"--in a good way. Maybe he'll chime in with his thoughts on it--and a few of his pics.

Monday morning we slept in and left around 9:30 for a 270 mile ride home, down 311 thru Paint Bank, Blacksburg, Floyd, Lovers Leap, and Stuart, Va. Home at 4:30. Great way to spend 3 days!!

Well documented Bob! (Except you left out the pretty farm pics out in the middle of no where VA.) And well Planned. Bob planned our routes like a military invasion. We crossed the Line-of-Departure around 9:15 Saturday. Talk about breaking all the COFSTA rules riding on weekends. (see its really not that bad Bob).

The roads in WV are nicely banked and there are so many long high speed sweepers you can get carried away with your speed. Fortunately we didn't have any run ins w/ the POPO. Except the one we staged there on the Back of the Dragon. No I didn't get ticket. I asked Johnny Law to flip on the blue lights for the pic. He was parked there looking to bust speeders heading south. We just pulled over there for a photo op of the valley.

In case you all didn't know it Bob is on the WV Tourism Board and Ambassador for WV State Parks. We saw some cool stuff I would have otherwise blown right by.

Good ride reports of pretty country! In the past I've attended 2 rallies out of Lewisburg and if popular opinion holds sway another next year. Beartown State Park is another of those small, amazing WV places near Lewisburg you'll miss if you're not looking for it.

Good story about the LEO... it's ok that you got a "Performance" Award. You don't have to make up stories.
