I would still like to leave on Sunday. Agree let's lock down the routes so we can all load then into the GPS. Where and what time are we all going to meet? I assume at a gas station near Morganton. Can't wait. Don

Bob and I talked yesterday about our route options and I'm going to attach our finished routes to a single post here on the forum so they'll be in one place.

I'm with you on that, although I "could" leave on Sat. but do not want to unless there were weather conditions that made good sense to do so, and would postpone departure by more than one day if we didn't do so. <rdr>

Sounds good. Now I remember why Yarby can't go on Saturday. He has guests in. No problem. Sunday it is.
There is a RaceWay gas station at exit 103 of I-40 (that's is also where 64 crosses I-40. I'll let you all who live the further east away pick the time.
Depending on what time you pick I my get Sunday bfast at Timberwoods exit 106 I-40 with the Knobbies. Heck y'all could eat bfast there too if you wanted. They usually finish eating and ride around 9:00AM.

Spoke with Lynn about y'alls trip last night at dinner; she asked if I had any interest in a long ride like that.

Told her of course, absolutely although none of our current bikes really had the long legs for that [SUBTLE HINT]

Hardest part for me, in all likelihood would be making decisions via committee for days at a time... not one of my strengths <pissed> <grin>

So my new tires on the Tenere' ES already have over 1,200 miles on them. Hmmm I think I'll spoon on a new set of Metzler Tourance tires before we leave. Did we come up with a trip total mile estimate? <tour> <tour> <tour>

I would guess if you think you have 6K left on your tires that you would be ok. Just my guess

Yea probably because tour miles are easier on tires, overall, than sport miles on our roads here!
I've got a few days to decide. [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

I also figured around 6k miles for this trip and am going with a fresh set of Metzeler Z8, a mileage tire. More than a few of the FJR crowd get 10k out of these but then they don't ride with hooligans like Brick, a menace to society!

I'm using the Metzler Z8 on Lee's recommendation. So if I don't get home w the set I'm starting with......you know who I will be blaming.

Well, I only get 3K out of my PR3 rears but Brick guaranteed me I would get twice that on a highway trip.

Mounting PR4's this time.

I dunno--maybe I'll just get a tourance for the rear....wonder if Compet Access has them in Rock Hill? <pop>

I'll need a new tire as soon as I get home so I can save my PR4 for then.

FYI I have about 1500 miles on my PR4 before removing it and it looks pretty good stil. Better than what I was getting off the PR2's or Pirelli Angel GT.

Well the PR3s fooled me every time. Yes they looked very good at maybe 2k miles but suddenly took a dive at 3k. Never got more than 3300 best on the PR3s. I know the tourance's are a harder compound and do get better than the PR's.

I knew I shouldn't have asked you. Ok all kidding a side, how about 8 am at the gas station at exit 103 that Brick recommended. I am about an hour from the gas station.

We are an hour and a half from the gas station. How about 830 unless Brick wants to eat breakfast with the nobby's which would be nine-ish...?

Ok the SPOTWalla trip log is set up. Here is the link: https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id ... 7420857b41 give this to anyone you want to be able to see where... well where I am. <olfart> You can encourage them to leave comments or ask questions. If and when I get on a computer I can check and reply to those comments. Also they can see one day or all days it's just a setting thing on the left side of the screen.

Friends have enjoyed watching where my trips have led me in the past... <tour> This tour starts at like 6AM on Sunday and I had it end on Monday June 15th... I know that Broz has to be at work on that day but I usually extend it beyond the expected return date just to be on the safe side. <tour>

I'm looking forward to this trip... can't wait!

The cheapskate way to interface your trip on Spotwalla is with Bubbler GPS - the "Pro" version is available for Android smartphone at Google Play Store for a one time $10. It uses the phone data connection to update your position so if you don't have Verizon, with their reach in rural areas, it's probably not worth messing with. http://www.bubblergps.com/ Haven't used it but a similar app SWconnect is available for iPhone.
