Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Ok... got my camera... and my iPhone and 3 other guys from here to also take photo's... plus the three we meet up with in CA to ride down.

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Who's going from here? Better get out the salt for your driveway--temps are gonna stay cold for a while.

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014The local group is Chris Jernigan, Gary Lackey, and Clyde McLaughlin who has a house on the lake near Hickory and a home in Maryland.
Yea, it could get tricky getting out of my driveway... Grrrr!! But then... Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Brick, I've kept a browser tab on my computer open to your spot page. 1/2 way across the US and looking good!
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Chris got to sample AZ's mud today and the day before I tried a saddle bar stool... YeeHaaa! Great trip so far. Some exceptional dual sport riding to day through 19 miles of the Coronado Mtns. [THUMBS UP SIGN] Brick Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014I saw where your route took you across that gravel section and wondered whether you meant to do that. Guess so...gutsy! Thanks for the pics and we will of course like more of those.
Baja, Mexico 2014Lee, that "gravel section" climbs up to over 7000 ft, and probably had snow on parts of it--I rode the same road (NF42) from west to east in Feb. 2010 when I spent a month in Sierra Vista, AZ. It felt quite "adventurous" as I was alone on my KLR with no one but my trusty SPOT, and there were NO others to be seen the entire way through there (weekday). NO way I would do it again solo. Hats off to Brick and crew for doing this trek on those heavily loaded pigs with street-biased tires; I was on a little KLR650 running TKC80 street-knobs and still almost lost it a couple times going up some tight switchbacks in the mud. It snows up there every couple weeks and takes forever to melt so the road is muddy where its in the shade.
Chris, sorry you met the mud but looks like no damage was done--I hope! Since Brick was derelict in his photog duties on this harrowing DS adventure , I will post 2 pics that I took on the same run. Thanks to you guys for letting me relive my ride and my whole trip for that matter--I was "watching" in real time as you went thru there. I wanna go back next winter..... (sorry for the hijack ) KEEP 'EM COMING!! Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014You suck Brick! I'm so jealous. Have fun, be safe.

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014More photos... Great day today! Started cold.. Got really warm in El Centro... Then COLD over the Maracopa mtns into San Diego/Chula Vista. Tomorrow Mexico!... Oops Baja. Brick Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Dang Brick, your bike is filthy. Now I want you to get out there with some motel towels and chrome polish before everyone else is outta bed!
More pics--take some good clear ones of ALL the bikes and people on them. Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014That's a rough looking crew! You guys will fit right in with the machete wielding Mexicans but you're going to have to shower before we allow you back to NC.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014all what I can say is I wish it were me, looks like great fun Brick! My brother took me for a ride on the back of his 68 yamaha 305 scrambler out there I was about 12 yrs old he was stationed out by sierra vista I remember going down at least once great memory though.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Well we are at a place called The Old Mill at San Quintin... There is a 3 mile dirt/gravel/sand road in/out. If I/we survive it we will re-enter the USA today. An amazing trip so far!

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Livin' the dream there, bud!
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014
Exellent, still following along on Spotwalla. We've had dreadful weather and are currently snowed in so you picked a great time to get away.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Looks like an interesting place--an old mill operated by the tides. I see its American owned--is that pretty common?
Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Bob I wouldn't say that American ownership is common... but I this case I believe it's a good thing.

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Impeccable timing. Your arrival in the eastern US should coincide with a significant warming trend in the forecast.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Lee I would love to say that I planned it that way... but I'm damn glad it worked out that way.
This was us last night in Tombstone, AZ at Big Nose Kates! Brick Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Now, I know you didn't go to Tombstone and missed Boot Hill! After I even texted ya.
OK, I guess I'll help ya out here Brick. You better be sandbagging on the pics, we're all expecting something BIG when you get back. Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Gary says that we always miss something so we have a reason to go back.
Chris at breakfast in tombstone. I told you I have most of my photos on my camera not my phone... I'm replying with my phone. Brick Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014
Oh yeah, thats right. Want me to create an album for the ride at the COFSTA photo gallery? Then you could do a bulk upload for all the pics to make it easier, and anyone that you gave the link to could view them online. And then post some more text here in the ride report. Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014
Chris looks a little rough but who's the guy in the blue shirt? Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Yea... The longer we are on the road the rougher we all look.
