Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Today I noticed that Brick's route went by the hospital in Del Rio then north to the hospital in San Angelo. I sent Brick a text asking if things were OK and he just texted back that two bikes got together, two totaled and one broken ankle. Don't know who's bikes or who's ankle. Probably not much we can do from here but I offered whatever help is possible. I'm sure they're busy sorting things out but I'll update if I hear anything else.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014
Gary Lackey & Chris Jernigan somehow collided on US90 just past Langtry, Tx--in extreme southern Texas next to the border. Gary has a badly broken ankle and is in the hospital in San Angelo. Chris is bruised but ok. Brick says both bikes are totaled. All I know at this point. This appears to be the spot, looking east, the direction of travel. Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Well That is really too bad. Brick, let us know the details when you get time.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014WTF- ...very sorry to hear this news.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Hope everybody makes it back in one piece.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Yea... I was in the lead... bike 2, Clyde had left his camera on the seat.. Chris bike 3 saw it fall off and was stoping on the highway to get it. Gary, bike 4 did not see that Chris was stoping and nailed him at 72mph. Chris has a rental car. Gonna try to get a ford flex so that Gary can be comfortable. Clyde and I leave tomorrow. Gary won't get out for a couple more days.
SUPER trip before this! Brick Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Holy cow. A comedy of errors...except it was no comedy huh? Amazing how 1 thing led to another. We can all learn from this. What a bummer.

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014
Brick, did you guys have an active B2B system running, i.e. Sena or GMRS of some type? If not, do you think having a B2B operational with an instant-on PTT setup could have made a difference in what occurred? Bob
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014wow really sorry to hear this!
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Bike 1= me and bike 3 = Chris had Sena. No it wouldn't have made a difference. He never should have tried to stop in/on road and bike 4 should have seen him stoping. It shows what can happen in an instant!

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014I once watched my buddy's wallet fall out of an unzipped pocket and the contents explode on the pavement. I passed him and signaled the turnaround to collect his stuff. All turned out well. Always best to be safe, signal, pull all the way off the road, etc. Hope everyone makes a speedy recovery.
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Sorry to hear this news guys. Hope the rest of the trip is uneventful for all. Make it home safe!

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Well Clyde and I are on our way riding home. In Vicksburg, MS getting breakfast. Gary and Chris are flying home today. Had to go first class to get his broken foot on the plane. Brick Brick

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Glad to hear they're flying. Gary doesn't need to spend 12 hours a day in a car for 2 days at this point.

Re: Baja, Mexico 2014It's great Gary could do that. Foot/ankle injuries can be really bad news. I see you slabbed it on to Atlanta. Good! Time to wrap this up - you're traumatizing all your home boys here!
Re: Baja, Mexico 2014Well all is pretty good... At least with Clyde and me. We are in Swanee, GA at a Comfort Inn Suites. Gonna get a nice meal and lots of rest. Tomorrow is a 235 mile ride including up 221 & 64 to home.
Gary and Chris flew into Charlotte. Gary has a Dr apt Monday in Asheville. Hope all goes really well for him. I'll post where he is in Asheville for visits. Brick Brick
