I had a great ride up to and back from WV a few weekends ago and would love to join you. Going to have to see how it works out for timing.

I am still trying to plan a trip back up to Chicagoland with my old posse. They are tentatively planning a Mississippi river area ride about this same time (anyone interested in that, let me know).

Also, the good news is that I am close to landing a new job. The bad news is that I am close to landing a new job.

One of these days, when money is no object and I can retire and ride the roads on any day like many of you, I will be free at last! <tour>

lol Congrats, and condolences!

I'm in exactly the same position, and am both 'psyched' and 'bummed' in equal measure ;)

I've wanted to go to this for years. Also the Buddies of Bruce MSTA event (used to be the Friends of Freddie event) is the same weekend.
My daughter and Steve are flying in for that timeframe. Same weekend every year. I may get to ride on Saturday... Not Sunday.

I went to the rally in Lewisburg, WV. I rode up with a friend from the BMW club. We took all back roads up and back. On Saturday I visited an old college buddy of mine that bought a cabin up in the mountains about 40 miles west of Lewisburg. Getting to his cabin was a real challenge for me. About six miles of the worst roads I have ever been on. Really tested my GS and me. The ride back on Sunday was just great. Took back roads over to hwy 16 in Virginia. Took 16 almost all the way home. What a great road and didn't hit much traffic. Anyway at the rally saw some friend from Ohio and Michigan. Had a good time and the weather was perfect except for a little fog in the morning.

My old college buddy, looks like a mountain man

This is the best part of the gravel road. The rest had a lot of ruts and deep gravel

Was that 6 miles of gravel? Or Paved?

Yep, he looks the part of a WV mountain man alright. <olfart>

Six miles of gravel. And a lot of it was up and down very steep hills. On the hills is where the ruts and washouts were. Hey but I didn't dump the bike so all is good. I was very happy with the tires in this gravel and I went up those steep hills.

No and it was a good thing he didn't come along. I am sure he wouldn't have made it on his RT.
