9-20-13 Ride to Erwin, Roan Mtn, 226A

Nice cool sunny day--Broz, Yamadog, Yarbi, Scott, and I headed up NC80 and 19W to Erwin, TN for lunch at the world famous Hawg 'n Dawg. Broz ordered a coronary-on-a-bun (large hot dog smothered in pork BBQ). Disgusting.

After lunch we rode 197 down to 226 where Yarbi split off for home. We then headed north up 226 and through Hughes Gap, then up Roan Mtn. from the north side. Then down the mtn. and NC80 from Bakersville to 19E to Crabtree Creek and then down 226A. The tarsnakes on 226A seem to be either firming up or flattening out, not nearly as bad as last fall. Then a quick slab over to Morganton where we rode Old 18 and headed homeward, a fun way to end a day, which Broz says was approx. 397 miles for him!
