Good one Bob. We looked for a back way up to Beach Mtn. We were not successful but we found some other really cool roads. Did you know that Old Beach Mountain road goes to Old Beach Mtn... Not to where the ski area is... Which is now called Beach Mtn!?!?! But the Sheriff... "under Sheriff" said that there were so many name changes to the road to Beach that our best bet is to start at the top to find our way. [THUMBS UP SIGN] Image Table Rock road was great today... all gravel but great top to bottom!

The sherriff was right. I drove it in the truck back in March when the weather was nasty. Here's the route. Those switchbacks on the northern end (actually middle) are paved but then it goes to gravel over to Old Bch Mtn Rd. (pic is "north-up")) Good thing the switchbacks are paved--- would be difficult if gravel--very steep.

Brick, see pic--this shows where Buckeye Creek Rd. turns off Beech Mtn Rd and takes you thru the switchbacks up to Pinnacle Ridge Rd. if you ride it, I suggest you have it mapped in your GPS and zoomed in 'real' close, as it is easy to take a wrong turn with all those roads running at crazy angles. Also be prepared for those steeeep tight switchbacks. The gravel part on the north end is well groomed but the gravel was fairly deep in places, and I would not try it on my tires at all. Would want at least an 80/20 or better. (and a 300 lb dirt bike, lol)

Also, don't expect for Bch Mtn Rd to be called Bch Mtn as the name changes every couple miles or so--Joe Parlier, Buckeye, etc.... It definitely has an identity crisis. <dope>

Ok... Thanks. The only part that I don't like is loose gravel. [FLUSHED FACE]

Agreed!! The switchbacks ARE paved though--the gravel starts right at the bottom of the switchbacks and goes the rest of the way to Bch Mtn Rd.

I have had the opportunity to compare the handling of my GS with my old KLR on loose gravel. When the gravel gets loose, the *weight* really starts rearing its ugly head. Does your Tenere have a steering damper? Sure wish I had one when I got on the loose stuff on the GS. <whew>

No steering damper on the Super T. I think what I need is about 20 years younger... [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

I hear ya! The new waterhead GS comes standard with a steering damper.
