Knobbie Bobby

Unread postby Bob » Mon Jul 09, 2018 9:37 am

So now I am officially a Knobbie--and this was my first ride with the group. Great fun! Brick led us (me/Scott/Sunil/Clyde/Gary/Matt/?) on a romp up 181/194/Georges Gap/NC88 to Boondocks in West Jeff where the food was awesome. On the way Matt had a get-off on Bulldog Rd. but he and the bike were (mostly) unharmed--well, gently scratched anyway. Sorry Matt, but glad you could walk away from it. After lunch we hit Three-Top/Howards Creek/Tater Hill/ 194/19E/181 back to Morganton. The weather was simply gorgeous--this was one diem that everybody shudda carped! <grin>

Great day to ride Sunday. Could only muster 3 hours of blissful riding around Yancey /Mitchell counties. Something about the fall-like air.....ahhhhhh

Glad you all had a great ride. Sorry to rider who had the off.

Welcome to the Knobbies Bob. I feel sorry for anyone who missed this ride. It was one for the record books.

Thanks for the pics.

Temps were so good and the high elevation roads that we rode for the first time were tight yo! <joecool>

I was trying to figure out some of the roads and was wondering if anyone had a gpx file or google map I could review for guidance. I especially liked how we got from Timberwoods to 181 then the crazy twistys begun after we got to the top of 181  ;)

Matt is fine. He purchased the parts required off Ebay last night and will be back for more adventures. Thanks to all that assisted Matt and patching up his bike <toast>

Oh, so THATS who that guy is. Why doesn't he advertise his website at his spot on 181?

He used to have a regular spot on 181 with his sign then got harassed by the land owners and had to move around. Most of the riding community knows him now so I figure he puts up his sign once a month or so for the new folks.

Good ride report! Thanks for posting the pictures and the photo guy on 181! Glad Matt is OK... A Bulldog bit can be really bad! <poke>
