We rode yesterday!

Unread postby Bob » Thu May 10, 2018 8:06 am

Yes we did. Scott, Rod, and I met at the Gate, headed up 181, BRP, and 221 to Blowing Rock for BBQ at Woodlands. 221 was getting a long-needed fresh coat of asphalt and we got caught up in the paving mayhem. After a yummy lunch we rode 194/Meat Camp/NC88/Big Laurel and 167 around Lake Watauga, then a fast run up 194 thru Banner Elk (no traffic there for a change) and south down 19E, eventually heading down 181 and Old 18. Whew. It was a lot of fun !! <bana> You shudda been there!

Scott was checking his rear caliper in the 2nd pic which mysteriously overheated going up 181/BRP and he lost braking function in the rear. We had stopped a couple minutes earlier to check it out and the disc was smokin hot!! Maybe the big fat foot syndrome...? <muaha>

Is that the BRP Linville Viaduct detour section? That would be a horrible mistake if it were.

Oh and FWIW, got a speeding ticket on 67 west of the 67/167 split between Butler and Mtn City. Cop was cool to reduce it, but we were on a straightaway, cresting a hill after passing ( in a legal zone) two cars and a dumptruck. GRRRR

Was a great ride. Just finished adjusting foot pedal down and swapped out the cooked fluid for some fresh.
