Ride to Lake Lure and Beyond

Unread postby Bob » Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:07 am

This past Friday I met up with Brick, Scott, Lee, and a new member Frank from SC at the Ingles in Lake Lure. From there we rode the uber twisties up Green River Cove to Saluda where we had a tasty lunch at Wards Grill, thanks to Lee's excellent suggestion. Then Brick led us down Mtn Page/Cabin Creek/Dupont Forest/Caesars head with the loop ending back up in Saluda. From there we rode Howards Gap and Skyuka Rd and transitioned over to the Lake Lure Expy by way of Big Level Rd and a few more. I stayed in the pack until Casar where I split off for home. Nice long day ride, thanks to Brick and Lee for leading us around, and nice to meet Frank.

The foothills boys also got Buffalo Creek/Buffalo Shoals Roads and Olde 18. Much good stuff for the day!

Sounds like a great time was had by all. I'd like to ride that route. At least 2 roads I didn't know....yet. I buddy posted on FB how much fun 176 is since it was resurfaced. Since I hadn't been on it in 4-5 years, I was missing the fun. I need to get over that way more and this is the time of year to do it when it's still cold on the ridges.
