Friday Ride 126-226A-181 and more

Unread postby Bob » Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:20 pm

Scott, Steve, and I met up at the Halfway and then rode Old 18 to the Gate where we met Brick. Brick then led us around Lake James to Marion where we dined at the exclusive Countryside BBQ. <grin>

After lunch we rode up 226A to LS and paid a visit to Hoyt at Big Lynn Lodge. The view was awesome as usual. Then we zigged a bit cause the parkway was out-of-order and finally took 181 back to Morganton, topping it all off with another run down Old 18. Man I love that road!

The road conditions were about as good as they have ever been--dry, free of chemicals with only a trace of white powdery stuff here and there. We didn't pay it any attention and hooned it up quite a bit. <fonda>

Great company, great weather, great roads--what more could you want? (brick thats a rhetorical question <muaha> )

Yes it was a bit cool today but not so much as it kept us off the mountain. [THUMBS UP SIGN] I got to the Gate a few minutes after 11:00 so not too bad. We did have a spirited pace today... I just love to hear the Tenere’ “Honk” as I pour on the coal out of the corners.
Heading up toward South Mountain Children and Family Services a girl in a small car came around what was a right corner for her in our lane! Luckily there was a truck and car in front of us. The truck went way off the road to avoid a head on collision. It was truly amazing!
Like Bob said the roads were amazingly clean.
It was a hoot! I had an absolute blast! Old 18 South is a damn fun road! [THUMBS UP SIGN]
I sure am glad I got out to ride. Thanks Guys. It was good to see Steve it has been a long time.
