Scott and Bob's DG Adventure

Unread postby Bob » Thu Oct 05, 2017 6:34 pm

Yep, we rode over Monday taking US441 thru the Smokies, and Foothills Pkwy and DG/NC28 to Robbinsville. On Tuesday, we made a loop on the Cherohala to Tellico Plains and back stopping briefly at Bald River Falls. Then we took NC28 past Franklin and up Walnut Creek/Charley's Creek/215 to the BRP to the east side of Asheville. Weather was gorgeous. Great way to spend a couple days! <tour>

That 2 day trip out to the Robbinsville area and back is always a fun ride.

Great pics and ride. We should set up an annual adventure there. Missed this one by 1 week.

Yeah, like the first M-T-W of October every year. Weather is always perfect then.

Klim Latitude jacket and pants. Due to 30 lb weight loss old gear didn’t fit well anymore.

Oh yes and there was that little get off on the way back from bald river falls. I rode from bright sun into dark shade right before a curve. Had my visor up and my photo grey glasses on. Found myself off the edge of the pavement in gravel. Was trying to get back on pavement when I lowsided. We were trying to lift the bike out of a hole when a couple of lesbians on Harley’s happened but and helped out. I escaped with a stoved pinky finger but my left Jessie bag is mangled. I think Bob may have a pic of me jumping on it to straighten it out.

Well since you mentioned it:---->>>

That sharp drop off the pavement is what did you in, no way to get back up there going at an angle. An "edge trap" as David Hough calls them. Glad you made it with just a mangled pinky.
