MSTA had a just for fun event in Middlesboro, KY 9/15 to 9/17. I had forgotten all about it but just went up to see some friends on Saturday. It was right on 5 hours going up back roads from near Hot Springs to Greenville, Rogersville, and Jonesville, mostly TN and some VA. Great roads and great weather. Came back about the same way except TN 63 and 31 which are great roads if you like to watch your tail light going around some of the turns. That area around Middlesboro has some fantastic roads and will have to go again. Excellent place for an overnight destination but even better for two nights.

Yea I saw the posts from the MSTA. Looks like they had a dozen or so. The roads up that way are fantastic!

Knowing those towns you mentioned I'm sure you rode some fantastic roads. 66 and 70 are truly secrets for riders from this region. Any other freshly paved wonders of modern highway engineering that you'd like to share? I have been wanting to ride KY 197 for years. Just can't seem to find the right weekend to do this.

I rode 70 end to end but just the scariest portion of 66. Talking to my friends the only problem you can run into is coal trucks. Their bikes were all filthy from the dust on the roads but overall quality of pavement was reported as fantastic.

I'll probably run that area if I go home to Cincy. Looks like fun on the map!
