Ride Sunday to the Snake etc

I arrived a hour behind you guys. I got stuck behind tourist traffic on Hwy 58.

We skipped the eastern part of 58 and took VA 603 at Troutdale up thru Konnarock and merged into 58 about 10 miles before Damascus. Its the best part anyway--that eastern part is like you said, this time of year on a weekend--tourists.

If you can hit that eastern portion early on a weekday. I can make it to Volney from Spartanburg by 10:30 to 11am. It's empty with good pavement so you can do some 3D low level flying. We were lucky to hit it at the right time because those bike haulers are IMO worse than tourists. You can also pop over the hill on 600 and hit that west section too.
