I have it. I think Brick recommended it. Problem is I don't get service most places we ride so a phone based GPS app is worthless to me.

Yea I have it and use it some. It really uses the battery on my iPhone so I'm glad I keep it powered while on the bike.
And yes I guess it would use a lot of data without wi-fi.

It says you can download the map for your route for when you are offline.

OK, so I went online (desktop computer) to their website and created a route. It was super quick and easy, the routing was very intuitive as if it was reading my mind. I cliked SAVE and it immediately appeared on my Iphone. Neat! And I found out that IF you are gonna be offline when riding the route (or just not sure) you can download the map---if you sign up and pay $5.99/month.

ALSO--I can upload any GPX route I already have (that I'm using on my NAV5) and use THOSE routes on my Iphone too. This is something I have never been able to do with the Iphone.

This thing really has some promise. I think. I'll be test riding a route or 2 very soon. I am curious how it handles Turn-by-turn, detours, and leaving/rejoining a route, which is problematic for the newer Garmins. Garmin should be concerned about this app, I think...

So you are paying the $5.99/month fee?
That was always a hold back for me... I'm cheap!

Don't need to at this point--you can upload GPX's and route with them for free. Nice for redundancy. If you lose cell phone reception, the blue line is still there for you to follow. But for $60/year (discount) to be able to use your phone with all the other features it has, it seems a fair price when comparing with a Zumo/etc.

Msg below from the Rever dude in answer to my questions; they must have something big planned, as I see that senior editor Blake Connor just left Cycle World to work for these guys.

Hey Bob,
Currently we don't have turn by turn directions but it is something we are working on and hope to have this available soon.

For the offline maps, currently this is per route. So you plan or track a ride and then hit download for that specific ride. Although we are actually changing this in a new release soon that allows you to download a region rather than having to complete a trip in that area first.

Hope that helps clear those questions up :)

This is a neat (paid) feature: say you're riding in a group of 5 and all have this app running--and the group gets fragmented, or maybe its meeting up piecemeal at some distant point--everybody can see where everybody else is on their screen where the route is, in real time.

This sounds like the best feature of all. I don't want to end up like the guy found on the Dragon 30 hours after he wrecked and it can keep track of that too.

If you all had the link to my SPOT tracker that I always use when riding you could see where I am too. But you would need internet and the link.

I looked at getting the SPOT tracker. The only real way to limit the problem of no cell signal. Which model / service did you buy and why? It seems to be worth the money given the potential risk!

I have the original SPOT tracker. Now they have ones with what must be a satellite phone. Go to www.findmespot.com and see what's offered. Usually the base models can be purchased very inexpensively because it the services that you sign up for that cost.

I have considered the satellite phone. Seems like the upgrade is not much more expensive over SPOT service and only becomes more expensive once you use it. Although when you do eventually use it, the cost is relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme (like while buried under your bike in a ditch).
