80 North of 19E

Guys,
good news, I rode 80 north of 19E Saturday and the old chip seal section North of the Toe river had been resurfaced for about 3 miles with signs at the end stating ROAD WORK 3 miles (more) so it looks like they'll connect the two sections now resurfaced and 80 from 19e to 226A will be completely resurfaced. I like to take Snow creek rd as an alternate but 80 is such a nice road with old farms and views of Celo Knob.

Yeah if they connect the 2 it will be a great road once again! Thanks for posting--I need to get up there soon. When it cools off a little.

I was up in Yancey county again this weekend. 80 is all but complete and Harrell Hill connecting 226 to 197 is freshly resurfaced. It's a nice shortcut when you are coming S on 226 from the state line and want to go west on 197S.
If you have not been on Big Laurel in Madison county lately, that has been 90% resurfaced too. Revere is always a blast, but sometimes Big Laurel is a hoot just the same.
Any other fresh Asphalt to ride?
BTW I heard old 18 is a mess, gravel everywhere. Be careful out there.

Whaaa? That Sunrise Trail you were on today looked like it had some nice sweepers with an ocean view.... You staying in North Sydney? Thats where we stayed one night. Doing the Cabot Trail counter-clockwise I guess?

Yes Cabot Trail counter clockwise. [THUMBS UP SIGN] it was cool but absolutely beautiful! Tonight we are in Bangor, ME. A little over 400 today with 1/3rd of it in rain.

NC80 between 19E and 226A is now completely re-surfaced.....Its full of gravely corners but in a few months it should be good to go.

I rode it twice this past weekend and I really enjoyed it! They also repaved a section of Double Island and it is just amazing! And not the same gravel problem on Double Island as 80!! WhaHoo!!

Resurfacing on Double Island ? Did hell freeze over? I have been waiting 22 years for them to resurface (not patch) that road. Regardless of the amazing flow of that road it is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the mountains; rolling hills, Christmas trees, and old farmhouses.
