Agreed, Next week looks very nice, cool and drier both here and up on the ridge.I'll be in Burnsville for a little traffic matter June 10th.....Can you believe they ticketed me for passing 5 cages, going 5 mph on a double yellow when construction backed up? I mean it was just 5 cars and I trying to see how bad the back up was....dang SHP. Going to have to use my first PJC to save the 4 insurance points. Wish me luck!

No he wasn't hiding, but I didn't see him across the 2 lanes being worked . One of the 5 cars I passed was an off duty cop. I think he was butt hurt and demanded the SHP write me a ticket instead of giving me a warning. My fault , but it sucks. I asked a local lawyer "what can I do" He says no way out except a PJC and he would do that for $350 plus the fine, plus the court costs. THEN I tacl to a buddy in Chatam county NC and he says I don't need a lawyer for a PJC and if the judge grants it, I only have to pay the $188 court cost NOT the $80 fine. Apparently the local scumbag attorney was going to charge me for what I could do all by myself AND he was going to pocket the $80 fine which the judge will drop if he allows the PJC. If he doesn't allow it, I'm looking at 4 insurnace points Feck!

Get a local lawyer. I did he only cost me $125. You don't want the PFJ because if they get you w anything in next 3 yrs it's can come back and get you points wise. There are only 3-4 attorneys in Bville and most don't want to work. If you need the name let me know.

Rode with The Working Stiffs up to Erwin for some awesome dogs at the Hawg n Dawg Saturday. We time shifted the ride a little more towards morning to allow for the hotter weather but it wasn't enough. Gonna have to start much earlier for summer to get home soon after lunch.

Had my day in Court in Yancey county today. I waited until they worked through everyone who plead down or deferred their date to trial on July 11-12. I was literally the last person left in the courtroom when the judge came in. I waited about 90 minutes in total, not too bad. The ADA said they had no objections to my request for PJC, the judge looked at my driving record and granted it with a smile (attractive woman for sure) No fine, just court costs ($188) and contrary to the myth out there, nothing comes back to haunt you if you have another infraction, but I cannot use this again for insurance points EVER ( I saved myself 4 insurance points) but one can use it for DL points once every 5 years.

Sounds like it worked out in your favor! And no lawyer. But you had to ride all those nasty roads to get up there for court. <muaha>

Bob it was a good news, bad news, good news kind of day. I left Union county at 5:15 and trailered up a project bike I restored for a passed buddies widow so she can get some money out of it. I had ridden it locally 2-3 times this spring but today I got 4 miles from the Spruce Pine WAl mart smack dab in the middle of 226A between the two ends of Little Switzerland and it died. Turned over again and again but would not start. I circled back towards the Lynn Lodge coasting downhill and got a ride back to my car from Hoyt the owner of the Lodge. ( Nice guy) so the bad news was that I didn't get to test the roads in Mtn brook off Seven Mile ridge road. The good news was that I had to walk zero miles having been helped out by Hoyt.

We will try again Saturday. If the roads are navigable on two wheels without too much sliding around, we will have ourselves a new Mtn place ! If not we have plan B and C.

Dave we have an offer accepted and we are in due diligence. My only concern is the gravel roads leading to the cabin. There are 3 sections with moderately steep downhills with switchbacks. I need to ride my bikes up there today to make sure it's not a challenge. Riding that everyday I am up there would get old fast, but the house is almost exactly what we have been looking for. Having a back brake would help too. 2 of my 3 street bikes are Gen One Tuonos. They have pitiful back brakes. The master cylinder is located near the exhaust and the Fluid boils out over a short time. It's a know flaw but I rarely use my back brake except....going downhill on gravel. So today will tell me what I need to know.

When we bought our 20 acres here just north of Morganton we had wanted to build on the back which has a mountain view. However as we planned and priced we realized that maintaining a ~ 1200 foot curvy road was not what I /we wanted to do. Remember when you see gravel on a road at the bottom of a driveway that it used to be someone's driveway... and now they will have more work as more washed off.
Just my $.02 worth.

Ken, how long is that gravel stretch--whats the address? That is one reason we kinda gave up looking--for now. Finding something we wanted, but on a "moto-accessible" road proved fruitless. I can't tell you how many times I told a realtor to just turn around now cause there's no way I can make it to this house we're going to look at. There was one on Strawberry Ridge Rd (just off Crab Tree Creek) that was unnerving even in the car, lol. <bugeye>

Yeah you have a point, and thats another reason we lost interest. We drove up in the mtns once last winter and couldn't get back home fast enough; afterwards we both said "No way we would want to come up here in the winter". <yikes> What I need is a mtn. place from May thru Sept.--or year round in the foothills.

Well I think we are withdrawing out offer. The steepest of the 3 grades had severe ruts. Looks like it has a water problem. Probably graded too steep. I had to inch down the road. No way I plan to do that every weekend 2-3 times. Not to mention my guests struggles. The search continues......
