Yes interesting. I fought Ohio State University's traffic and parking for years to get them to adjust the sensitivity of the sensors at the parking garages. These sensors were at both the entrance and exit gates. At the entrance the sensor set the time the gate stayed up. With a mc I would use my key card to get the gate to open then still sitting there putting the key card away the sensor didn't get enough signal from the MC to continue to stay open. Similar on exit if it sensed you as soon as you started to move off the sensor it would come down.
T&P's solution... Your gonna love this... They shortened the gates so MC's could just ride in and out. [FLUSHED FACE]

Good luck getting a traffic engineer out to adjust stop lights for motorcycles. In Lenoir they've still got lights set up for when downtown was a crowded shopping area and for when thousands of workers entered and exited furniture factory parking lots.

Agreed, they couldn't care less. The thing I found helpful was the advice to stop OVER one of the cuts in the pavement rather than out in the middle of the square that they form. More likely to trip that way. I have to try that and I know the perfect spot.....

Working on UNC campus, when the guys needed to trip the parking gates or lights for one reason or the other they'd lay a shovel over the road sensor. So, all you need to do is carry around a shovel!
