Well it's not a dirt bike... it's not an Adventure bike... It's not a Touring bike... It's not a cruiser... I think that makes it a motorcycle. I do believe that Yamaha has it in there Cafe bike type bike class.
I think it's super cool not sure if they changed geometry or messed with the motor. But I could see something like this replacing the 99 SV650.

Looks like it might have a long-travel suspension...

Here is a look at what Yamaha says about it. It is from Yamaha Europe so we don't know if it will even come to the USA.

OK, now I get it--looks like one of Kimura's customs. Pretty cool. But probably an FZ09 in a new suit.

Not really I saw this BMW late last year ... So Yamaha is a copycat. Basically they all are trying to get on this type of bike.

The Yamaha motor division must be doing well because they've come out with several toys lately that aren't cheap to be kinda just screwing around. Like this concept car that they built from the ground up...

Well it's actually available here in the US of A!

https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport ... els/xsr900

They also put it in a classification that I have never heard of before... Sport-Heritage. At $9,400 not a bad price. I believe the FJ09 is still the one for me!

I hope it's scrambler esque. With a more comfy seating set up and the 09. Might be interesting. I'm really most excited about the new VFR1200X.

I've seen where manufacturers are coming out with retro cafe racer/scrambler sort of versions based on existing nekid bike platforms. Seems to be all the rage lately.

I saw and sat on the VFR1200X when we rode the Alps last year. I was thinking of renting that bike. I'm so glad I did NOT... there were a few in the Finnish group we met up with. The consensus is... Heavy pig! Also for me it was WAY too tall which probably won't be a problem for you.
Sorry to burst your bubble but I too was not impressed.
YMMV

That was my concern, though weight wise it doesn't seem to be too terribly heavier than a GS, S10, Tiger explorer etc...
I plan on my 1050 staying around till I either wreck it or the motor blows. I just don't have the funds right now to make a bike payment and there's nothing out there for 5-6 grand that's better than what I've got. Though the rumors of a FJ-07 would be tempting...

Yamaha shows a wet weight of 430 for this XSR900. That's only 15 pounds more than my CB500.

Interesting
