Made it to Asheville and back today, used my trailer (I know, brick is barfing ) and everything went as planned. Also got a sweet deal on the NAV5 GPS so I'll be playing with that for a while. The folks and service at Eurosport are leap years ahead of what I am used to.

Oh man I love it in that RED! What a cool bike! You sir are a lucky man! [THUMBS UP SIGN] Hmmm can't wait until you tell us what a Nav 5 is? BMW has a super locking system for the GPS AND the dial control of the GPS is way cool! I'm envious!

The NAV5 is that GPS you're talking about, it locks into the mount attached to a bar above the dashboard, and you control it with that "wonder wheel" on the left grip. In German, thats probably "wunder wheelfahrt" or something similar. You think it looks good now, just wait til I hang those lovely aluminum cracker boxes all over it.

Oh I knew Nav5 was GPS... But in Garmin talk is it like a 665?

Like the 665 but with a 5" screen and some other stuff, like built-in weather app that will overlay weather radar over your route as you ride. It has to be paired with your phone to do that, plus trafic app. and a few more apps your can purchase cheap 1-time pay.

Between the bike and the GPS, all I've done the past 2 days is read--then press--then read--then curse--then realize it was user error--over and over. But its fun. Did get a new windscreen today, will be installing it shortly. Its a Puig (pronounced pooj) made in Spain. I've seen that name many times in the past when shopping for shields but never had one. Looks like an oversized version of the oem and reviews were great. And price $50 less than Cbailey so that was nice.

I am very impressed with the Dynamic suspension on the S1000RR from the Superbike school the last two days. The new S1000 is just absurd, but that is another story. Congrats on the bike.

Thanks. I've been peering under the plastic and am seeing a lot of dynamic suspenson related stuff I never dreamed existed. Like a swingarm-position-sensor tied into the rear shock's electronics. During my test ride, it was amazing how you could jerk the throttle or hit the brakes while leaned over in a turn and it didn't upset the bike's composure. Makes a chicken-shit rider like me feel like Rossi, lol.

Be careful with over-use of the nannies, Bob. They don't overcome physics, and give a false sense of security if highly abused. "It feels good until its not" was a common theme at Superbike. This is of particular reference to simultaneously adding throttle and lean angle, rough transitions on brakes or throttle, etc. The nannies minimize these issues at lower speeds, but don't overcome limited riding technique. I despised Rain Mode on the S1000 because traction control allowed absolutely zero wheelspin leaned over past a certain lean angle, and I typically increase throttle to the limit of wheelspin. As a result, I missed out on some traction, acceleration, and I added more throttle than needed. When I pick the bike up past the lean sensor that reduces traction control, the bike suddenly jumps ahead (not smooth). The best part to change if you want to go faster is the nut behind the wheel.
