Places to stay in or near Lake Lure/Columbus, NC

Unread postby Brick » Tue Apr 07, 2015 3:00 pm

I'm leading this group of flatlanders from Helen, GA to Romney, WV on a very twisty route. Day two finds me at 300 miles near Lake Lure. Anyone stayed in/near there with a recommendation for where to stay?

300 miles from Helen to Lake Lure? Obviously you are going by way of Deal's Gap then. <tour>
Sorry, never stayed in Lake Lure, but there's always the Dity Dancing Motel, aka the-->> http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review ... olina.html
I don't know if any of it was actually filmed there though...

Actually this will be the second day on the road from Helen, GA. Regarding the hotel you reference here... it's very expensive AND it all full! It's some kind of spa or something highfalutin like that!! I think I'm gonna go for the Days Inn in Columbus, NC. Unless I hear another GOOD suggestion.

I'm taking 5 days to get them from Helen, GA to Romney, WVA. <finger> One of my straight routes! <rdr> <icool>

Many years ago we stayed at Evening Shade in Chimney Rock. Nice by the river. http://www.eveningshade.net/index.html

Brick, why don't you just "wing it" like you usually do? Didn't think you liked an "organized itinerary".... <pop>

Can you post the whole route--love to see it! <rdr>

There are a bunch of reasonably priced hotels at the intersection of I-26 and US64 in Hendersonville plus restaurants within walking distance. I stayed there a few years back.

I'll check out those suggestions.. Thanks
Bob
You are right I do REALLY like to just wing it. However it's in the middle of tourist season in Lake Lure.

I am out riding my Super Teneré'!
