It just works. A couple years ago my original bottle that came with the changer ran dry, so I started using cheap shampoo and body wash, as per the grizzled veterans on the forums. And it worked pretty well--except when it didn't. And when it didn't, I would resort to using tar arns then and bugger my rims and knuckles at the same time. Couple months ago I decided to order another bottle from Nomar along with one of those "yellow things" that keeps the bead from creeping. Just changed my rear tire to a PR4 and the yellow thing really works! No more rotten old ratchet strap around the wheel. And the lube--holy sh*t. I will never again stray from the Nomar lube, even if the shipping costs as much as the lube. The tire literally "leaped" onto the rim lol. And no dripping shampoo or mess---it takes so little of the Nomar paste you can't even see it.

Some things are just worth it.

I've always just used dishwashing detergent mixed with a bit of water... or a little shot of Windex.

Then again, I still change tires with Jorgensen handscrew clamps

It ain't broke!

Spray lube to get the old tire off - clean the rim - paste to get new tire on. The spray helps lube all the bits to make it easy to come off. The paste keeps slick surfaces slick to get it on, but the right spots dry to keep the tire from rotating around the rim and messing up the balance. The paste also serves to KEEP LUBE OFF RUBBER THAT CONTACTS THE ROAD. Carelessness with spray lube mixed with a manhole cover 30 feet from your driveway will result in sliding down the road on your head, rubber side up. Ask me how I know.

Yikes! The Viffer or the K ?

The K bike. Heck that was 20K miles ago and I was doing about 10 mph and had the frame sliders on it. Didn't even touch the paint. I replaced the lower fairing with the carbon fiber one on it, since it was mildly rashed from too much lean angle, anyway. I promptly scratched up the carbon fiber one with too much lean angle. Didn't require any work. The bike has been out of commission far longer due to shop incompetence than anything I ever did to it.

10mph and hardly any lean angle. I usually cut inside the manhole cover, but wanted to "take it easy" on the new tire, so I ran it a little wider than usual. I thought the whole front end fell off the bike considering how fast I went down. T-Rex frame sliders work well. Highly recommended.

Sooo typical---you know most accidents happen close to home. Thats why I try to stay away as much as possible.
